ICMC Positano
ICMC Positano 2010 July 16-28
July 16 – 22 ICMC
July 23 – 28 ICMC Art Tour (Roma, Firenze, Pisa, Lucca in Toscana region)
The International Chamber Music Courses and Festival (ICMC) is proud and excited to announce its summer 2010 program.
ICMC was established in 1998 by a Chinese-American Pianist Eileen Huang in Positano, Italy. Positano is one of Italy’s most famous seaside resorts. Renowned for its spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches and unique architecture, it is one of the most enchanting corners of the world. This region has many historical connections with music. Wilhelm Kempff lived and taught Piano in Positano from 1954 until his death in 1991. Near Positano, Richard Wagner lived and wrote an opera in Ravello, and the great tenor Enrico Caruso was born in Napoli and lived in Sorrento.
Positano High School( Scuola Media) has kindly offered its practice facilities for ICMC’s daily classes. There are various classes for students of Piano, Violin, Viola, cello, wind instruments and Vocal, art courses are also included. There will be featured daily master classes, ensembles and individual lessons conducted by internationally distinguished musicians. The great Maestro Aldo Ciccolini will present an optional master class to ICMC students..
In the morning there will be Taichi Quan (traditional Chinese exercise) held on the seashore. Lunches will be at many different restaurants so that participants may experience the unique Southern Italian cuisine. Evenings will be devoted to public performances for both solo and chamber groups or simply enjoying the beautiful environment of Positano..
Sightseeing tours will include the Amalfi Coast, Vesuvio, Pompei and the Isle of Capri. After the ICMC Festival in Positano, participants will join the ICMC Art Tour to Roma, Firenze, Pisa, Lucca in Toscana region. Lodging will be in Montecatini for the Five nights of the Tour.
The ICMC Positano is a unique summer music festival and camp for all ages. Our goal is to provide quality musical training in a healthy environment, warm friendship, international cultural exchanges and great musical experiences.
Since 2007 the ICMC has been extended to ICMC Shanghai, China.
